A few things:

  • ANNOUNCEMENT: In three weeks, I’ll be going to New Jersey/New York!
(Not Pixel, she’s just my Vanna White)
I will finally be living my dream of doing the Times Square thing (yes, I’m that crazy) and also seeing snow for the first time. (Yes, the first time. I know. Le gasp.)
  • If anyone has any suggestions for where to go or what to do in NJ/NY, I’ll be there from December 26 to January 1st. (Yes, I’m returning on New Year’s Day. I did mention the crazy, did I not?). Please leave them in my Ask box or reply here, thank you!
  • For Black Friday, I finally got a PS3! I had arrived at GameStop around 5:30 AM, having only woken up an hour beforehand, and stood in line. I asked an employee if there were any PS3 bundles left (this clearly indicates interest, in my opinion) and he replied that there were “a few.” Then he went to the other side of the line and asked if anyone else wanted any. … WHAT? (Mind, I understand where the man was coming from, probably wanted to see if any ahead of me wanted it, but still). My hand shot up in the air immediately, and he didn’t even see me. Another lady had to point me out and then he said, “Congratulations, you got the last one.” Sigh of relief. Awesome.
  • The PS3 bundle at GameStop came with God of War I, II, and III. However, I also took advantage of the buy 2 get 1 pre-owned game free deal, so I now also own Assassin’s Creed I and II and Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. As for the latter, I know that there are not so great reviews but I don’t care; yes, I am that obsessive with Final Fantasy VII and just want to see what happens for myself, rather than reading on Wiki. I like the experience.
  • I also bought a cheap (… a little less than $200 “cheap”) HD camera for my adventure and so I can finally make that NERF gun short film. ONE DAY.
  • And ah, yes. I also have yet another cat hat. Uh. (Wouldn’t have minded a bear, actually.)
  • Random note: I also uploaded pictures to my Facebook of the Halloween shindig that took place at my house. I was Charlock Holmes. Heheh. (I’m trying so desperately to curtail my obsession with it. Only slightly.)
  • Speaking of Sherlock Holmes, one of the pictures you see there is the reason I’d spent so much money at Barnes and Noble. (Too lazy to link back to it…). They were selling hardcover, leather-bound copies of complete collections of books, and though I knew I could do so for a lot less, they just looked so pretty. So there went all my money. I also bought a complete collection (more or less and not quite the Necronomicon) of H.P. Lovecraft’s stories. Just to see what the big deal is about Cthulu (oh devourer of worlds and another unfortunate reminder. And I’m aware of his other horror stories, of course.)
  • We (Annie, Nancy, and I) saw Tangled yesterday. AMAZING. The comedic points were spot-on, and ah, I have so much more to say about that, but it deserves its own post. Definitely one of my top 5 of 2010, though I’m still looking forward to Black Swan and still need to decide if I’ll just go ahead and see Love and Other Drugs by myself. Hmmm.
  • THIS IS A LONG ENOUGH POST IF ANYONE MADE IT TO THE END, CONGRATS, you have my undying respect.

First Look of the Day: The first official still from Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes 2, featuring a first look at Noomi “Lisbeth Salander” Rapace as a French gypsy.
SH2 hits theaters December 16, 2011.

So excited! … I’ll admit, I’ve been obsessive with Sherlock Holmes lately, whether it be the novel or the series.
And speaking of Lisbeth Salander, I really ought to watch the first two movies, since I need to read the third book prior to watching the last movie. I can’t believe it’s out already, my goodness! (Well, I suppose that makes sense, really…).

November 08, 2010

The rough weekend bled into my Monday.

  • I was irritable and felt like an absolutely awful teacher.
  • My co-teacher wasn’t there today so I had to take hold of most of the class; I had someone who was there with me, of course, but my goodness, so much happened today.
  • I’m still convinced I have whiplash and I’m trying to ignore it because I’m tired of being in hospitals and being at doctor’s offices and just can’t afford it, literally and mentally.
However,
  • I had my first home visitation today, and it wasn’t bad at all; a lot better than I expected!
  • Mom did exchange that purse, so I now she can have something she likes and we can carry on with our lives and I’m just going to keep trying to breathe.
  • I saw a child in Publix who had a Mario T-shirt on and wearing a Mario cap atop his head, and all I could think of was 1) SO CUTE. 2) His mom is awesome; my children will also be this awesome. 3) … I was so overtaken by the cuteness I actually forgot what I was doing.
  • All in all, I’m glad I survived today. Hopefully I do so for tomorrow and the rest of the week as well.
  • And maybe, just maybe, I can actually get past 2,000 in that word count… er… (Allegedly, we should be at oh, 13,336…?)
  • Here’s to those of us who are struggling and just trying to get to the next day, no matter how big or small of an issue.
  • Be strong.
And now I’m going to go eat a Cuban sub, have some pretzels, revel in some Mint & Honey Sweet Leaf Green Tea, and catch up on Walking Dead. Sounds good to me!

[edit]

Walking Dead was only recorded for about 2 minutes; I suppose someone must have stopped it? But that’s all right, I still have “Masterpiece Mystery” to begin; basically, it’s BBC’s new 21st century of Sherlock Holmes. “A Study in Pink” indeed; I giggled. I have been DVRing it and have a few episodes. And hey, Conan’s up soon, so there’s more to look forward to!
